Has anyone ran 33" tires with 5:29 gears

Local pd has been bothering my about my 36" inch tires sticking out too far and my bumper height. I am only looking to get my truck a little more road legal that fastest way right now. And I have some 33x12.50r15 tires that I could use but what would that be like driving with 5:29 gears?

DUHockey had 5:29s in his 4runner on 33s. It's doable and drivable. Probably a little steep. His was a manual transmission and on the highway he was pushing (if I remember right) about 3700 rpms at 65 mph.
He did say it was great when wheeling.

i am the guy who bought Duhockey's 4runner. I have to say I like the 5.29's way more than I thought I would. I don't do much interstate driving but around town and on back roads its great!. I had planned on swapping them for 4.88's but after having them a little over a month i think they can stay for a while.

What makes it great? Are the gears shorter or longer feelimg, are you shifting constantly?

actually I find that I don't have to shift as much. I usually go 1st, 3rd, 5th or 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th. It has more lugging power that the other stock 4runners I have driven. Having the steeper gears means no more downshifting on hills which is pretty impressive considering It's fully armored, has custom front and rear bumpers and has about 175 lbs of gear in the back (including the drawer/sleeping platform) and full size spare.

I ran 5.29/33's for about 3 wks while waiting for my 36's to arrive.
It sucked, and would be even worse if it had been a DD.

So after all that arguing with people who wanted you to buy something stock and put 33s on, you finally bought a truck with 36s but have to swap em for 33s?

That sucks man...

What about some big bushwacker (or whatever brand) fender flares?

What? No, i got 35" km2s and its in my garage getting lowered lol i bought the truck for the motor and sas and body style. For It would take me some time to be able to do these myself. My intentions when I bought it was to lower it, just not right away thought I would have some time before the cops bothered me. I only ran 33's until I had enough cash for new tires and shackles. Now it should be about a 4 or 5 inch lift and still fit my iroks for when I want to run them. And still be a nice daily. I refuse to ever have fender flares on any of my trucks, not my style.

Km2's are awesome im very happy with them, i see why so many people run them.

super torquey and top speeds are shot, first gear good for trails only. But you will survive
