Having problems transferring phonebook from HTC EVO Android Phone via Bluetooth.

I'm an IT guy so usually stuff like this is no problem for me, but I can't seem to figure this one out. I can get my Android EVO phone to connect to the car bluetooth system and use hands free, make calls, etc. but when I try to transfer the phonebook it just does nothing. It displays a message on the nav that says something to the effect of "send contacts from your phone now" but there is no option that pops up on the phone to do so. It seems to be recognizing that something is happening though because as soon as i push transfer contacts the phone's status says bluetooth headset disconnected and then the status goes to paired but not connected. As soon as I cancel the operation it goes back to being connected. Almost seems like the phone is viewing it as an intrusion of some kind? Any ideas on this? I've got the ftp server on the phone enabled and everything. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Try going into the contacts (via the application, not through the phone icon) then click the menu button, more, then "share name cards" check names you want then click done. Select VIA Bluetooth and see if that transfers them to the radio.

I assume you're talking about on the phone... When I go into contacts on the phone and click menu I can click import export and it only gives me an option to export to the sd card. Even though thats not what you were talking about I went ahead and did that in hopes that it might export from the sd card to the radio. I will try this at lunch. Let me know if this isn't what you were talking about.

I tried to export to the sd card and still no dice. This is bugging the crap out of me.

ok so I hate people that post a question thread and then never follow up on it once they have the answer so I'm following up for the benefit of the community (hopefully someone else will run accross this.

So what I did was export the contact list to the sd card by going to contacts --> menu --> export --> to sd card. Next I downloaded a free app from the marketplace called astro file transfer or something like that (I know its astro something). I then got in the truck, turned it on and went to initiate the transfer on the truck's touchscreen like I had been doing. Next I simply went to the astro file manager and found the .pcf contact file in the list of files and long pressed it and then clicked export ---> via bluetooth --> then selected the name of the truck's bluetooth device. Voila! It worked

I'm glad. I always try to come back to threads like this when I have a problem and then find the answer on my own. To many people make threads all over d webz and then don't ever post a resolution.

What head unit are you using? I had minor issues when I transferred mine, but I had to 'allow' it on the phone. My biggest problem now is it doesn't display them anymore when I try to list... I'm using a pretty cheap HU though.
