heater lights

I have not had these lights since I bought it, so when they quit, I'm not sure, but I have no lights at the heater controls or on the automatic shift console (Park reverse...)

all other lights work, instrument cluster, domes, maps cigarette lighter, clock,and no blown fuses

maybe coincidence that they all burned out and I never noticed

or is there a wire that feeds the heater controls and shift indicator that might have come loose

the previous owner did put in a different head unit, and ham handed that, the wires are a mouse nest, cut and splice rather than spend the few extra bucks for the wire harness conversion, and its a crappy head unit at that, on my to do list, but pretty low

All those lamps are fed separately by a hot green wire and a variable ground white with green stripe wire from Plug 3F (the bottom one) on the Center Junction box. Odds are fails are NOT connected. They are not even adjacent pins on the 3F plug. I'm going with bulbs.

Did you end up changing the bulbs out? I am having the same problem and need to know what to do :/

Mine turned out to be just bad bulbs.

All mine were out because bad bulbs, not so much bad luck as PO being a bit lazy about shit.

It's a 3 minute job to replace them and find out.

My HVAC lights are out also, interested to see how this goes.

Just a single bulb for HVAC on 1996-98 I believe. And single bulb for the shifter. I ordered some bulbs from superbrightLEDs. HVAC takes about 2 minutes, gear shift maybe 5 minutes.

It is one bulb and did you already put yours into the HVAC? I tried about a year or two ago and the bulb I used from SuperBriteLEDs was too long. I even filed it down but the bulb was a bad fit and often lost contact before I could even reinstalll the HVAC faceplate. Plus it didn't look good if I recall.

I quickly went back to incandescent on the HVAC lighting.

First one bulb went out and a few months later all the rest went out at the same time. I've posted this link before and they still have a few sets of OEM bulbs for $39.99 shipped. They came quickly and I was able to disconnect the HVAC panel and install the bulbs in the house in a comfortable climate. It took about 20 minutes in total. IIRC a tiny screwdriver helped get the old ones out.

I can't remember what model it was, but it was same as shifter (74 maybe, green). It was very snug to install, but works good. It's definitely bighter on the center of the display than the sides, but I think it works great. I don't know what it looked like with incandescent, light was out when I bought it.
