Hello everyone!

I wanted to say hi and share a bit about me.

My name is Rob. I have been manufacturing custom gear since 1990. What started as making heavy duty gear for Police, Military, EMS, and photographers has since snowballed into creating Overland Gear for vehicles. I make some dedicated 4Runner products in addition to lots of universal fitting gear like seat organizers, bags, rear cargo nets, MOLLE Gear, and more. Everything is made in-house just outside of Salt Lake City (i.e. quality American Made gear backed by a lifetime workmanship warranty!) and we can design custom gear without quantity minimums.

Thanks for this, it is all welcome addition to what is available.

However, I think there is a fundamental issue with accessories, namely that if they are cheap, they are not really useful and if they are useful they cost an arm and a leg. For example, I would like two well-designed seatback organizers so that the kids could put their stuff in.

But the ones I see on you website are 250$ each. For 500$ , I can spend a 5 day vacation in southern Utah, fuel, food, and camping included. This is why mass production is vastly preferable for accessories. Smittybuilt sells theirs for around 100 and I am sure their production cost is a fraction of that considering how much goes to retailers.

Vehicle armor is another story: if I need it, I need it like skids and sliders. If I don't, I don't, like bumpers.

Accessories are much more in the "ugh, maybe, well, kinda" department.

Good ones from my perspective would include said seat organizers and a net (soft) dog barrier behind the second row seats. But I would not pay more than 100 for each of those. I would pay a little more for something that is harder to do and no one else offers: a net (soft) cargo space divider. That's because I give 2/3 of the space to the dog and use the remaining 1/3 for cargo, which is enough for day trips. The solid barriers, however, are a bit of a pain.

There is no manufacturer that makes a seat organizer to the quality and options that I provide. Smittybuilt sells cheap products. Like the saying goes... you get what you pay for. They import cheap products so the lower price point so I can understand why their products can be inciting.

I'm proud my company supports the local economy AND create jobs. IMO I would rather make quality gear that I stand behind for a lifetime while also providing jobs so that the said vacation you mentioned is possible for more American citizens rather supporting companies that load their pockets by monetizing their goods by outsourcing their stuff to sweat shops overseas.

I appreciate your feedback on what are the motivating factors in the "ugh, maybe, well, kinda" accessories department. It's the first I've heard of the dog barrier idea. Definitely something for us to kick around. Thank you!

Welcome! I poked around on your site and like the little bag for the Jeep grab handle on the dash. I wish the 4Runner had something like that. I wonder if you could create one that screws into the inside of the glove box and provides a similar pouch, or better yet, wraps around the glove box to provide additional storage on the outside (like a map pocket).

Just a thought! If you make it feel free to send one my way! Lots of nice little Jeep owner gifts and stuff I'll keep in mind for my Jeep driving friends.

Cool, I read through your blurb and saw you are also The Vest Guy. I have a vest from the The Vest Guy from when I was a USA Cycling official and moto ref. Great, high quality durable gear. My whole job was outside on a motorcycle with radios, whistles, and pens hanging off me for race work. Attachment points and fit were right on. This gear never let me down!

We custom make all our gear in house, if there is something specific you need, let us know, we can make it.

This organizer measures 36" wide x 24" long so if your real seats are close to that, this will fit, otherwise we can make one up so fit it exactly.

We do offer a variety of storage cubes that will stack nicely back there

What type of material do you use to make your gear?

Cordura, YKK, etc...?

Depending on color its a Cordura Nylon, or Polyester

1000D or 600 D

Aways YKK Zippers

I have been doing this for over 29 years, with a lifetime workmanship warranty on every product
