Hello from Japan - soon to be Virginia

Hi all,

I am currently stationed in Japan, and am driving a 96 HiLux Surf 4x4, which I have fallen in love with. I am getting ready to relocate to Northern Virginia and have been looking at the 2012 Limited for when I return. I do have a question, though. Toyota promo materials (brochure and website options page) list the Sliding Rear Cargo Deck as an option on the Limited (standard on the Trail), but when I have contacted dealers, the response has been that it is NOT an option on the Limited. I have done some inventory searches as well, and have been unable to locate a 2012 Limited with this option anywhere.

Anyone have any information on this? Does anyone out there HAVE a 2012 LE with the sliding cargo deck?

Thanks for the replies.
So, more responses from dealers ranged from "it is standard on all LE's" (this was true until last year, now it is only an option), to "it isn't available and has been discontinued...but I have a great ______(fill in the blank) that I am happy to take a deposit on".

I finally got an email back from Toyota, and it IS still an option on the 2012 LE, but that regional managers can order those options they think will sell in their regions. Apparently the northeast regional manager doesn't think they can sell ANY LEs with a sliding rear cargo floor.

I have started to look for a used 2011 LE or TE, seems to have all the options I am looking for (mainly touch screen DVD nav and sliding cargo floor). If I end up with a Trail, will add seat heaters as my first mod. :moon:

Thanks for the help...and Brian, if I could bring back my Hilux, I "might" consider selling to you, but it would have to be a pretty sweet offer, lol...

It's gotta be 25 years or older to be imported with no issues and to be 100% legal.

Yeah, and unfortunately, it's not. It's a 96...but it is awesome!
