Hello from Indiana!
I purchased my first 4Runner a few days ago and T4R.org was instrumental in helping me pick the right one. A big thanks to all who have contributed over the years and provided this noob with some very helpful information.
Back in '06 I was the proud owner of a 2000 Xterra. However, after becoming the proud owner of a newborn son the Xterra was replaced with a minvan :cry2: . Ever since then I've been wanting to get back into a midsized 4x4 SUV.
This time I decided to go with the 4Runner over the Xterra due to my love of Toyota reliability (my DD was a '95 Avalon) and the higher quality build and materials. So far I think I made the right decision. :thumb:
Here's the new ride--
It's a 2001 Limited 4x4 with 142k miles. Everything works, the interior is in pristine condition, no rust, and it even came with a fresh set of Goodyear ArmorTrac tires. Best part was the $6,700 deal I was able to negotiate.
It came with a detailed service history and even some extras like window vent visors and rear cargo mat. It didn't come with floor mats so I picked up some "Floor Armor" rubber mats from Sam's Club for $20 and am actually pretty impressed with them (given their price).
Future plans include some upgrades, but they will be mild. This will serve as my daily driver (burbs), but will also be used for camping/hiking/skiing trips, outings to the shooting range, and visiting the folks at their country cabin. I'd like to try some actual offroading but part of me fears the acquisition of yet another expensive hobby.
