Hello all,

As above, just been reading through your site, great pics! Mine is a '92 (2nd gen) Hilux Surf, (Japanese import), although the UK version was badged as a 4runner here too. I'm not sure if you guys have the Hilux name over there, it has a great reputation in the UK as basically a bulletproof pickup truck, whereas nobody knows what a 4runner is!

Would be interested to know the differences between the 4runner and the Surf, the commonest engines here are the 2.4 litre diesel (mine) and the 3,0 litre, both turbocharged. There are a (very) few 2.8 non-turbo diesels (I have one in a Hiace campervan), which are actually quite sought after due to their mechanical simplicity/reliability. Slow though, so slow! Petrol versions are not common due to the price of fuel being higher here, but popular with those who have them. Many guys are swapping in the 4.0 litre V8 from a Lexus L400...

Anyway, love mine, does everything, gets me anywhere and looks great! Did any of the 4runners get the wide arches? What wheel sizes are standard?

Just bought a '94 (We think) Jap import Hilux surf also. 3l Turbo Diesel. It's been neglected, the previous owner abandoned it after a collision and its been sitting there for 2 years being used as somewhere dry to smoke (hotbox) at work.

My boyfriend Matt and I decided to liberate it, and Matt got it going first time! Couldn't believe it! We're going to be putting it on here as an ongoing project thread if you want to see how it's looking.
