Help, 08 sport pump keeps cycling

Hi guys,

I just finished replacing the rear calipers on my 08 sport and after bleeding them with a vacuum bleeder when I press the brake pedal I can hear the pump cycling. I tried re-bleeding and always kept the reservoir full. So it never got dry. Is there anything that I am missing or should be doing?

Did you have the key in the "ON" position while bleeding?
Actually you don't need to vacuum bleed the rears, there are quite a few threads about using the 4R's pump to help you bleed the rears.

forgot to mention that I did have the ignition on. Maybe I should just use the truck's pump.

For me the pump runs every other time I press the brake pedal, assuming normal stopping pressure. I think it's normal. You can use the pump to bleed the rears, but I don't think it works for the fronts. Pumping the pedal worked fine for the fronts for me.

It also runs periodically if I'm not using the brakes. I haven't timed it, but if it's more than maybe every 30 seconds it could indicate a problem.

Deending on how you did the rear brake bleed with the vacuum bleeder you may have introduced an air pocket into the system and that's why the pump keeps running? It's hard to tell without actually being there.

not sure how I would have introduced air as the resevoir was always full, the key was on and I greased up the nipples so the bleeder was pulling a full hose of brake fluid. I really don't think that I have introduced any air into the system and if I had I am sure that I have sucked it out.
