I am curious what is available to you down in CR.
Most batteries made by Johnson Controls are good, reliable, and are used worldwide.

just get a battery from Costco. Best warranty you will find.

Why do you say avoid Optima at all costs?
I have had the same Yellow Top for 4 years. I have never had a battery related issue. I run 2 amplifiers with a combined 1600Watts and have ran my system with engine off for about 30 minutes for tuning/relocation purposes and my truck started right up after I was done. Im just curious. You have bad luck with them?

^ Apparently the quality of Optima batteries has taken a nose-dive, not sure when this started. You might have gotten yours when they were still good.

Optima batteries give no warning signs of a old or weak battery when they fail its like a switch no juice I have seen it in boats,trucks and cars. Red top and Yellow. Walmart batteries if a warranty is important they are open 24/7

Wow. This is news to me! Well I paid $230 for my Yellow Top Optima because it carried a Lifetime warranty, without receipt, at my local AdvanceAuto Parts.
I know Optima still covers their Yellow Top "Deep Cycle" batteries for life.
So if they chose to start being shitty, then i will make them kick themselves for it! Knock on wood, but if mine goes bad and i get a new one, i will go buy a Die Hard as a backup

Optima yellow and red top have a 3 year warranty not lifetime.

Diehard platinum, or oddessy.
Optima went to crap when they moved there production to Mexico and quality control went to crap. I have had 3 optimas red/yellow/blue all purchased in 03 still work flawlessly.(drag car, 23ft bayliner cudi, old wheeler) Had a good friend with a red top in his neon with about 2000 watt stereo had a compositor and went through 2 red tops in a year his where dated 2011. Since the he has only run diehard platinums. And its what I'm putting in my runner when I get my winch on
Also only the platinums are made by the same company that make oddessy.

Thanks for the info I didnt know that about optima , and well here in costa rica I don't really know which we have , I know about LTH , optima , cronos , everready , Panasonic Mmmm and I don't really know which to choose I was thinking about LTH servicio pesado it's for heavy machinery so I think it could work , I don't really know ..... Though If you guys can keep recommending me some others I could look for them and see if I could get them here . Thanks for the help I really need it since my 4runner Is currently dead it has no battery :/

If you guys have the white Panasonic batteries with the black top that's what i would pick. They last a very long time! I've tested one that was almost 10yrs old and it still had plenty of power left. On average they last over 4 - 5 years.

Wow! WTF?! Why am I getting hit by Optima all at once! Geez! I bought their Yellow Top because when I went to the store, I asked for a battery in which provided a lifetime warranty. I figured since I would power a high end sound system, i wanted a battery in which could be destroyed and swapped free of charge. I was offered the Yellow Top, which gave me a lifetime warranty.
Just read the Optima website and now i have a 12 Month?! Im making a phonecall here soon. Now Im irrate.
EDIT: I called and spoke to a representative and was informed that I needed to give the battery model #. If it falls under a certain model year, you are grandfathered in. Hence, DO NOT BUY OPTIMA.
I know the lifetime warranty was provided when I bought it. They mustve done away with it once they moved.

Panasonic sounds like a winner to me. I would buy one here in the states if i could find out where. If its like the ones I seen here it will last you a very long time.

You also want to look at warranties. Look at CCA (Cold cranking amps).

The original equipment batteries in these trucks were Panasonic. White, with a black top, as I recollect. I got eight years on mine. If I could be sure the Panasonic you have available in Costa Rica was the same as what came new in my truck I'd tell you to grab it. Always started fast in any weather down to -20°C, although I have a manual which is easier to crank.
I was very disappointed when I learned they are not sold in the US.
Take a close look at any battery warranty. Some are full replacement for x years and some are only pro rata after the first y years. Not the same thing. Pro rata warranties are really just a discount coupon for repeat customers. What counts for me are the years of full replacement coverage.
I'm sure the Panasonic has plenty of crank for temperate Costa Rica.
