Help buying a 4Runner

Looking at 2 4Runners at my local dealer. Good small town folks so I am okay buying there.

First up, 2005 sport edition with v6 and 110,000. Handles good, has best interior.

Used 2005 Toyota 4Runner for Sale in Logan OH 43138 Tansky Motors

Other option, 2006 SR5 with v8 and 112000. Paint looks flawless but a little rust at inside bottom edge of rear hatch.

Both will pull my ski boat and jet ski. Other than that, will be my mall cruiser and part time farm truck.

Have you looked at the carfax reports? May not be 100%, but something may jump out. As for part time farm vehicle, may want to consider the color. The white may be harder to keep clean. Both vehicles look pretty clean. My choice, would be the 06 with the V8.

I would go with the SE. Standard equipment on that model was a tow hitch, side heated mirrors/linked to rear defogger and upgraded brakes. You also get 2HI
4HI and 4LO with the ability to lock the differential in snowy conditions.

On the V-8 you have FT AWD basically. A car fax is a good idea. Business is business and you should know where this vehicle as been. Get a compression test, a brake look and ask when the timing change was changed on the V-6.

I would ask for a 6month warranty just in case.

since our gonna be towing, I would opt for the v8. But that color is hard to keep clean on the farm. With the white, you could just say is an off white when it gets dirty . But you got to ask yourself how much towing are you going to be doing, cause gas is jumping up, and the v6 does pretty good at towing. I've trailer a, fully gutted civic track car, over California"s grapevine a couple of times with no problems. But you know shes working, when climbing the steepest part of the mountain.

More relevant is when the timing belt was changed on the V-8

There is actually 120k on the V6. I prefer the V8 as it is one tough long lasting engine, but like the Sport over the SR5. With what your using it for I would go with the SR5 V8 if the timing belt has been changed, but IMO they are both over priced by about $1500.

drive the V6 first, then drive the V8. After you smile when driving the V8 your decision will be made!

I'd go with the 06' for sure. It's a V8, less miles, the paint color is better to keep clean and hide dents and dings on the farm. It also has the upgraded projector Headlights and single round foglights (Cleaner look IMO) versus the pre-06' 4runners. It has a clean rear bumper versus that silver 2 tone crap that just looks odd and it also has a better looking front grill on the 06' which can be easily made into the satoshi grill.
Ya, you'll miss out on a sunroof , a hood scoop and A/T tires that i see on the 05', but I'd for sure go with the V8 06'!
