I had a problem with the lock assembly on my 2006 4runner. The motor would try to close by the lock must have busted a pin somewhere inside and so I ended replacing the whole lock assembly. In the meantime while I waited on the replacement part, I had to use a rachet strap to keep the lift gate from flying open.
So after putting the new lock on, it will partially latch but now the handle won't work and will not fully self-adjust closed. The thing is that the handle and self-adjustment seemed to work before. Not sure if maybe using the ratchet strap to keep it closed might have kept the ECU running and burned it out or something. But if it did that then I would think my window, wiper, etc wouldn't work since they are controlled by the same ECU.
I looked through a few threads on here and it suggested to disconnect the battery to reset the ECU. Tried that and still nothing. Any suggestions to check on. Stealership said 2 weeks until they could get me in. It's been 2 weeks already and starting to get mad.
