Help! Lost Bolts!

So while changing my valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, wires and some other things inside my engine bay, I have managed to misplace two bolts that connect the three vacuum tubes on top of the intake manifold to the intake manifold [emoji34] (see pictures). This is on the 5VZ-FE engine. Any bolt measurements, part numbers, pictures, etc. would be helpful. Thanks! [emoji41]

I believe the head was 10mm, but I can't remember exactly. I'd like to find the Toyota part # for them, but haven't had any success.

That's what I was gonna say.

Since these are just run of the mill bolts to hold it on (nothing that's going to see any significant amount of stress), go to your local hardware store and get yourself a 10mm bolt that matches the depth. The only tricky part will be to figure out the thread spacing, it's probably either 1 or 1.25. You could pull another bolt and test fit the hole, that way you have something to bring to the store for reference.

Since these are just run of the mill bolts to hold it on (nothing that's going to see any significant amount of stress), go to your local hardware store and get yourself a 10mm bolt that matches the depth. They'll be metric for sure, and since they aren't any special load almost guaranteed they'll be standard pitch. How big is the hole? 10mm head is typically M6. I'd buy a handful of M6 and maybe throw in a couple m5 to save a potential extra trip. bolts are cheap!

I use this site to look up part #s then buy from Camelback Toyota. This is a pic of what you're looking at. You use the reference # to find the part on the part listing and price page. The bolt you need actually shown with the part # on the diagram as most bolts and fasteners are. If you want to know the actual part # for a referenced part, add it to the cart and the whole Toyota part # is shown.

Save money and avoid the trip to the hardware store...Grade 8 8 Metric Flange Bolt Flange Nut Assortment Kit 429 Pieces | eBay

When this happens to me I carefully size the bolt diameter, and then try a couple carefully until I settle on the right length.

If it ain't structural, it is a grade 8.8, and one of the sizes in this kit.

He probably said that because the bolts might be sitting on the skid plates and when you drop them the bolts might fall out.

I hope the bolts didn't fall on top of the head while the VC's were off. :mmph:

I'm pretty sure they didn't fall there. I didn't take that piece off until I had the manifold off already. I also had the intakes on the head taped the whole time so that wouldn't happen. [emoji41]
