HELP! Loud sound driving 50 MPH plus

It come from the engine. whinning sound, just really loud when step on the gas. The sound is too loud to handle for long distant driving again only hear when traveling above 60 MPH plus. I am clueless , I drove many different cars but this is the first time i hear this type of sound.
My old passat had a whining sound and turned out to be bad wheel bearings.
Anyways, to troubleshoot and isolate the problem I would do the following:
1. Rotate the tires. see if the noise goes to the back
2. When at 60mph, try coasting a bit (if safe to do so) in neutral. This will determine if the whining is coming from the tranny. if the sound goes away in neutral, might be your tranny.

Did it do this on the test drive? At least you now know why they got rid of it.

With the V8 being full time 4WD it could be many things. Wheel bearings, front diff (unlikely though) tranny, transfer case. Because of the way you describe the noise I'm thinking wheel bearing too. Either that or something wrong with the fan clutch or fan assembly that only manifests itself when there is enough air pressure on it at 60mph plus. If you bought it second hand from a dealership take it back there IMMEDIATLY! Every day that passes it becomes less likely they will correct the problem and try to blame you for it. A quick wheel bearing test is to jack up the wheel, then grab the tire at the top and bottom, and try to rock it back and forth pushing in and out (push top in, pull bottom out and vice versa) If there is any play, your bearings are shot.

Whining sound from the engine when you step on the gas? Could this have been fitted with the earlier V8 supercharger? That would be a bonus, even if the nose drive was shot and you had to fix it
But yeah, it's tough to diagnose. You say it's from the engine- are you sure it's the engine, or is it just coming from the front of the vehicle? Engines usually don't "whine" when they have issues. I would try what another poster suggested and coast it at speed to see if the sound is still there. That would at least tell you whether it's engine or driveline related. Could be a wheel bearing as suggested as well- try turning the wheel a little bit in each direction when the noise is there; does it get louder in one direction or go away/get quieter in the other direction? Also power steering pumps whine when they are on the way out, as can other accessories when they are not long for this world.
You seem familiar with 4X4 drag- is the center diff locked? Are the tires the same size? It could be binding up on dry road if these conditions are both present.

On the title I will be the 2nd owner. It got 132k on it, timing belt was done at 89k . The car drive good , engine sound great lot of power. I turn the wheel left and right no sound just normal. Engine is quite as hell so strange when you hit the 60 plus that when this sound ..god , i know it from the engine itself. My brother was like what that sound? You know when you drive 4x4 and when you step on the gas and release there like this sound know what i mean? It just loud, I check the last owner she bought it when this car got 17 miles on it brand new! Here is the car
