Go with the V8. I got the V6 because of my hate for the full time 4WD, but now I wish I had the power and engine tone with my exhaust
Help me decide: 2006+ v6 or v8?

I would have gone with the V-6, but the V-8 was the only 4x4 I could find - with 164,000.
This truck has been 100%. I love it.
It gets 16 MPG under communting conditions.
I added the airlift 1000 bags to level her out. Works flawlessly. Run 5lbs when empty, 20 with the trailer and all is level and looks great. No scraping in driveways.
With a 4,000 lb jet ski trailer (dual axle -2 sit downs, 1 stand up) this truck is awesome! I hardly know the trailer is back there. My last truck was a Ford Sport Trac v-6 - 200 hp 4.0L, and it had issues fully loaded for a weekend. The 4Runner gets me up to 75 mph without a hint of struggle and keeps speed on any hill I run into - and I have to go over the 5000' grapevine on I-5 in Los Angeles to ski each way. 12 MPG.
My sister has a 2010 Sequoia with the 5.7, and as nice as the estra room is, I prefer the 4 runner.
The 4Runner is as stable a tow platform as my high school ride - an OJ Simpson Bronco 4x4 5.8L. Just perfect.

I had a '08 ///M3 up until March 30 at 6:45pm CST. It had a 4.0L V8. I totaled it by hydroplaning and hitting a massive concrete culvert. I looked for both v6/v8 T4R. I found an awesome deal on a '08 V6 4WD Sport with 58k. I couldn't find a V8. I didn't care as I never tow anything and all I wanted was a 4wd T4R. Couldn't be any happier, except if I still had the ///M AND my T4R. I'm sure you'll be happy with whatever you choose, especially the V6.

It seriously cracks me up whenever I run across V8 T4R guys that talk about how fast their trucks are. They're trucks. They're meant to haul shit, wheel, get dirty. The V8 4R's are awesome. Have great power. But they are far from fast. If you want a fast vehicle, buy a sports car or sports sedan.

If my other car was an Audi S4 I'd probably agree with you but were not all that fortunate. So compared to my other car (95 Corolla) my truck is fast, compared to the Corvette down the road....not so much. It's all relative.

Well now, if you're talking boosting HP mods, that's a different story.... SkylineGTRracer's is def nice to see what can be done to a 4R though. I may do some as well.

I remember somewhere on the 'net a guy talking about racing X5's on the street. All I could imagine was fun for a sec, then 2 rollovers. Not exactly funny, but I sure was shaking my head in disbelief.
Back to the OP, I say go for the V8! (Seems many have a hard time finding a V8, whereas I had a hard time finding a V6. I just didn't want to drive 2 V8's.)

I think it's fair to say the V8 4Runners are fast. This is an SUV/Truck forum, not a sports car forum. So when talking about trucks/SUVS, for what it is, the 4Runner is pretty fast. I don't own a fast vehicle, but it is faster than what any of my friends drive, by far. As mentioned, "fast" is a relative term. I'm one of those that thinks a 5000lb truck based SUV getting from 0-60 in 7 seconds is fast. I would never say, "Buy a 4Runner because it's a fast truck!" though.

I always accelerate slowly and I didn't know my truck is able to do that ..

You never stomped on it? Different sources say different different things. I've seen one say say 6.8 seconds while another said 8.0 seconds. Most generally say 7.0-7.4 though from what I've seen.

I stomped on the highway but it's really not fast on the highway .. in fact on a roll a 4runner v8 is slow, very slow
