Help me decide on tires

Ok so i have decided to just take my tax money and bite the bullet and buy some new tires. Buying used tires off craigslist is getting old and i doubt i am saving money in the end.

Here is my criteria.

Size: 315/75/16
Load Range: D or E
Price <$1100 shipped
Leaning more towards MT's than AT's

Not interested in the BFG AT's or KM2's. Ran the AT's for awhile and want to try something different. The KM2's wear to quickly.

I'm really contemplating pulling the trigger on TreadWrights but after what Brian2sun dealt with, i'm not entirely convinced. I have heard great things about the tires themselves but its kinda a moot point if they never get to me.

What say you?

my dealings with TreadWright has always been A+, just cause one or two guys had a bad experiance with a company, dont grade that co. on just one or two people, if that was the case, none of us would have a toyota :cowboy:

I bet you wont find a better deal than TreadWright tires :party:

Ha. Somehow i knew you would be the first to respond. I'm going to call them tomorrow and see what the availability is on the 315's
 
lmao, I am VERY happy with them, you know how I love the firestone MTs,, well these are BETTER, if for nothing more than just the price lol

5) There's a place by the Columbus, Ohio airport that will mount them for $15 each. I couldn't get any of the national chains to do the work for me.

I was disappointed that TW didn't offer a 265/70/16 size that would fit my wife's stock 97 4Runner. They did offer a size that was comparable but my wife rolled her previous 4Runner due to bald tires and rain so I thought she would have more peace of mind with a set of Firestone Destination LE.

The Treadwright price was great. All told I spent less on my five Treadwrights with installation costs then I did for my wife's four Firestone Destinations. I'll continue to be a Treadwright customer for a long time....

I know nothing about Treadwrights, but can tell you that I really like my Maxxis Bighorn MT's and the Procomp MT's that I'm currently running on my winter rims.

Both seem to wear ok, and both have a decent ride. They are a little on the noisy side, but I think that's the price you pay for Mt's.

Ive had treadwrights on a few trucks. Right now Im at about 20000 miles on my Guarddoggs and they are at around 50% left or even more. I just bought a set off 33's for the wifes Expedition and they are great, load E is a little stiff and I wish I went with D's but they where out. I ran them back on my Bronco and got almost 50000 miles out of them.
 
I'm running the Maxxis Bighorns in a 255. They are pretty nice tires, especially if they were wider, which yours will be. What about some Duratrac in that size...Kevlar?
 
I'm on my second set of Treadwrights. Nothing but good things to say about them or Joel at TW. My third set will be Treadwrights.

They were used. The plan is to sell them and my old BFG's and buy something that is brand new. So far, i like the Duratrac's so i may just go with them again.

Tax time only comes once a year so i might as well blow it on something that will last for awhile.
 
Get bighorns. It's a mud tire but heard they're really good on the street. If not just go beast mode and get wrangler mtr's lol

What size Duratrac's were you running? Oh btw Steeze, I'm the guy who rode the Ducati up to the shop and have met you a few times to pick up some parts. Just saying hello :peace:
 
Prices i have found

These are prices shipped to my door but do not include mounting and balancing. A local shop will do that for $10/tire for me so thats not a big deal.

TreadWright Guard Dogs: $721

Cooper Discoverer STT: $1066 from treadepot.com

Kelly Safari TSR: $1000 from treadepot.com

Maxxis Bighorn: $1050 from eBay

Hercules Trail Digger MT: $936 from eBay.

I am running 315/75/16 right now as well.

Good to put a name and face together!
