**HELP! Need advice about a 2004 4Runner SR5 V6**

Hey guys my name is Noelle I am looking to buy a 2004 4runner SR5 V6 with that 126,000 miles on it. It has had regular upkeep and quite a bit of work done to it timing belt and water pump replaced, clean car fax with only 1 owner. I live in Colorado, it is a 4x4 and I'm just looking to see if I'm getting a good price. They want $9900 for it. Please help thanks!

Its Automatic transmission and Gas V6 4.0L/244 engine and has the following options: DOOR SILL ENHANCEMENTS, 7-PIN TO 4-PIN ADAPTER, Warning lights-inc: seatbelt, airbag, door ajar, oil pressure, low fuel, battery, check engine, brake, ABS, taillamp bulb failure, VSC, HAC, DAC, tire pressure, scheduled maintenance, Visor vanity mirrors-inc: sliding extensions, Vehicle stability control (VSC), Transfer case skid plate, Torsen limited-slip center differential w/locking feature, Tilt 4-spoke steering wheel, Side-impact door beams, and Remote keyless entry w/rear window power-down operation.

If its a v6 it doesn't have a timing belt, it has a chain. on that note, check the frame, thats the most important part to me.

Check to see if all the fluids are up to date. Have you tried the 4wd? Make sure that works and see if th 4lo works.

Like marky said, check the frame. See if there is any rust.

As mentioned, no timing belt in the V6, but a timing chain. Also surprised that it has had the two water pumps replaced, might want to research that more. Check for frame rust and any oil/leak spots, and I would probably get a pre-purchase inspection done by a mechanic of your choosing before committing.

For what its worth, I bought my 2004 V6 2 months ago with 128k on it from an individual for $6200 (granted it was MO not CO, and it was a really good deal). 4runners are great though, you'll love getting one!

Hmmm I wonder if they have it listed wrong on the website because the carfax definetly says timing belt? Maybe it's a v8? Like I said going to view it tomorrow! I was wrong the water pump was only changed 1 time! Thanks guys!!!

9900 seems a little high even for a stealership. If it was a 2005 with the 5spd auto maybe.. but not a 2004 SR5. And check if it is from out of state, dealers do that a lot, buy them then ship them in. I looked at a couple "one owner" 4runners here in Washington but they were from back east and rust everywhere.

9900 sounds about right for a in CO. CO seems to have a markup on these 4runners. I bought my v8 with 142K March 2016 for 12K. It was listed at 14 but I called them on the exhaust leak and repair cost. 12000 miles later I still have the exhaust leak I search for them here and there on craigslist and dealerships and see them for higher than 9900 usually, but the V8 versions are all I search for.

Not sure how the prices work in CO but it seems high to me. I bought a 2003 about two years ago. Limited, 4x4, X-REAS. RAS, and from what I could find pretty much option. Leather, factory nav unit, sunroof, tow package, and V8 is all I can think of right now. It had 120.xxx miles and one owner with all carfax showing it was dealer serviced. No body rust. I talked him down to about $9500 or so. That was here in NJ where things to tend to cost a little bit more. That is just my two cents...

Yeah, it was a good deal and I had to move on it quickly. Some frame rust (a given in the rust belt) but nothing structural. And a handful of maintenance issues that were ignored by the PO, but otherwise nothing major. I see what others have paid in terms of years/mileage and I realize what a good deal it actually was.
