Help Running Rough!

Yesterday it poured like crazy in Clearwater. I did not get it to wet, but a few times I went through puddles 18 inches deep or so, This morning I get in, shes running rough. A little later it popped a code. I sprayed all the plug wires with WD-40 took the connectors off of the coil packs and make sure they were dry. Have not found anything bad. When I drive it, and give it a lot of gas, seems to clear out a bit, then the check engine light flashes.. Then comes back on solid.

Any ideas?

Steve

Thanks in Advance

Check to see if the airfilter is dry. Mine got soaked pretty good one time and it ran like crap, threw in a new filter and it was good as new

Nope, filter was dry...

Any other idea? Seems like its shy a cylinder or 2, Until under a hard load, then it smooths out, and the check engine light flashes

Solved!!!

Well, went to the Parts Store, had them run a code scan. It came up intermittant misfire, and misfire cylinders 1 and 4. Which are the same coil pack.

So facing the engine, its 1 3 5 on left, 2 4 6 on the right.

So I started it and sprayed windex on the exhaust at the cylinders, and 1 was ok, and 4 was cold as hell.

So I revoved the wire to 4, and it had some imperfections, I unplugged it, and sat it on the valve cover, and it was arcing through the imperfections like crazy...

So I bought a nice set of NGK Plug wires, and for the heck of it I bought some new NGK Plugs as well.

70 Bucks all told, and she runs like new again.

Thing that threw me off, was that it happened right after a rain storm.

Sure is nice being a mechanic !!!

So check your wires for these types of imperfections if your running rough

Woohoo!!
