My dudes!

Everything was going good until we found out we are missing a BARB on the back side!!

What size thread is this barb?

You can see in the picture it’s the Cooper/gold color barb..

We think it is an M10 x 1.0 pitch. Can anyone confirm?

.

Right now the only thing I need to connect is this vacuum line (the fuel pressure regulator)

What happens if this is not connected?

You need that vacuum. Otherwise it will run like crap, or at least your bone stock 5vz will. Ask me how I know.

Can't you take the other barb to a plumbing supply center?

I don’t have another barb. The one in the picture is for reference.

I am Missing the barb altogether

If you bring it over I should be able to help you confirm the thread pitch you need. Could be an NPT if it’s not metric.

A few months ago I was working on that when the compression fitting for my boost gauge came out. I agree with above, it is an NPT thread, I just don't remember which exactly, pretty sure it's smaller than 1/4 inch?

This means you are finally putting this thing on!

You get it sorted? Let me know if you still need some help with the threads and I can see if I can measure mine.

Is your SC a TRD or Magnusson? Magnusson's have a different design on the back.

M10x1 pitch is so very close to 1/8"NPT that you can use a common male NPT to hose barb brass fitting from any decent hardware store. Be sure to use some sealant. PTFE paste preferred over tape.

THIS!!!

This is what actually ended up working... but I stumbled upon this solution by buying the barb & some adapters, the adapter wall was too big to thread in.. we just tried to thread in the barb by itself & it was happy!

Thanks for your responses but guys Bijan Hepar superman786 JZiggy @littleceasar

We were thinking it would be a metric application and should have checked a 1/8 NPT fitting. We were at Home Depot last night but none of the fitting had a barb small enough for that small vacuum line. The one Sean found this morning was a perfect fit. We used teflon tape but can always remove it and put the paste on when we're working on his rig again.

We started it up and everything was good. The test drive was cool seeing how much more power he has. It's definitely a nice boost but I just don't know if it's worth the cost of a supercharger. $3000 is a lot of coin. I reckon finding a used one for a much lower price would be the way to go. It would just take a while to find a good deal on one.

So I have to ask Tim which upgrade is more bang for the buck upgrade IYOP, the 2uz or the SC?

If we all could be as lucky as Hepar, 4runner life would be good. :bluejump: :bigok:

I guess it depends what you're after. The 2UZ swap is very involved and more expensive to do. Mikey did it for the extra torque for towing and probably for the challenge. If you just want more HP and not worried about the low end torque, a supercharger would be the way to go.
