I have a 1992 4Runner 4 cyl. 5 speed. I can't pin point when the problem occurs. It will happen with it is warm and cold. The problem is most evedant at idle with the brake pedal pushed in.
The engine surges from 1500 rpm to 800 rpm. If I take my foot off the brake it will high idle at 1200 rpm smoothly, most of the time.
Then sometimes when I let off the gas and push in the clutch as the idel drops it will surge once and the way down to idle. Also while it is in "surging idle mode" the truck stumbles on acceleration, almost like it is missing.
I'm pretty sure this is a vaccum problem. I've sprayed carb cleaner on all the vaccum hoses trying to find a leak, but no luck. Could someone please point me in the right direction? Any feedback would help, thanks.
