Help with Blown Icon Coilover

It's wild to me that your coilover was toast after so few miles and (sorry for stereotyping your wife's driving style) being on a wife's daily driver.



Was the shaft of the coilover pitted? That'll do some serious damage to the seals as it moves during compression and rebound.

Ha. Yep, definitely my wife's daily driver and less than 9k miles. Hazzard Fabworks said the shafts were not pitted.

I'd be interested to hear what Icon has to say in response to your latest inquiry. I drive the living hell out of my 4Runner and my suspension is always begging for more. I've rebuilt twice (30k miles each time) and only once did one of them actually need it. This time I am just waiting for something to fail before I have them rebuilt.

I received an out of office reply so I likely won't hear back until next week. Hopefully this is an odd condition with this one shock as the three others have no leaks. It was my choice to rebuild locally rather than dealing with sending the shock to Icon as requested, but that just seems unrealistic at least in my case. I'll keep you posted.
