Help with Heat valve control under the hood..

I think i narrowed down my issue of my AC not being as cold as it should.

through searching on here i found the heat control valve under the hood behind the intake plenum attached to the firewall. I saw a cable attached to a little lever and noticed that it didn't matter what temperature i had set, the lever was always in the same spot.

So i took the cable off the lever and moved it to one direction and my AC was ice cold like it should be, turned it the other direction and my heat seemed to get warmer. (Im having an issue with the front heat only being luke warm and the rear heat comes out very HOT - so that is my next thing to tackle - all hoses are warm so i'm hoping to just flush out the heater core and have that resolved).

So my question is: where does this cable go to inside the cabin? I assume it goes behind the air vents or climate control somewhere - any insight where? it seems like the cable is stuck or whatever adjusts the cable isn't working.

Any ideas or help?

Is there a motor that adjusts the cable? if there is and the motor is bad - can you just replace the motor? or is it something inside the airbox?

Have you already ruled out the climate control system (I'm assuming by having an '02 its digital)? I often see people having issues with these as they age. It it repairable though if that's the culprit.

There is a motor (from what I recall) but it's an unpleasant project to get to.

I'm going with gamefreakgc. My money is on the controller and not the motor.

It does have the digital climate controls.
I did notice the temp knob sometimes acts up and it will get stuck on a the current temp and won't go up or down but I just spin it a couple times then it goes from cold up to hot like normal but I never see the cable move.

I assumed changing the temp is what causes the cable to move. Is that right?

So I used this post as a good way to locate the servos.

My issue ended up being the levers that the hot/cold servo moves were stuck somehow. Once I removed the servo I manually moved the levers and the cable. The levers seemed stuck but moving them back and forth a few times freed them up. I also rotated the gear inside the servo 180 degrees since there were a few teeth that got ground down from the levers being stuck.

Now it pulls the cable and moves the levers like it should. And my front heat gets hot like it should and the ac is cold also.
