my name is Phil, i'm really a DSM guy with too much of a boost addiction. however, i have a 2004 T4R SR5, 4.0 V6 4WD. my father has a 2010 T4R SR5, gorgeous truck. i bought the '04 from him after the embarrassing trade in value the dealership was offering him.

anywho, the truck has been down and out for the past year... at 151k, the rear differential let go. it had a bearing noise that i should have addressed when it was back in his ownership. it has the 8" non-locking 3.909 rear end. my first question would be, what years will interchange with this? i'm having such a difficult time finding a rear differential it's rediculous. seems as if all i come across are front's, and if i find the rear's, they are lockers, or for a 95-03 style but not mine.

anywho, it's nice to be here, hopefully somebody can help me with this issue!

Welcome Phil. I too had a boost addiction back in my VW/Audi days but this community is a LOT more fun and full of better people than the speed crowd, in general. There is a GREAT deal of info. out there on this site, literally every question I have had in my short T4R ownership has been answered here. ENJOY!

Welcome to T4R.ORG Phil! How about picking up a locking axle and the parts to make it work. Then you'll have true 3 wheel drive!

P.S. I had a slightly modded '04 VW GTI VR6 6-spd. I had to sell it cause everytime I drove it I found myself doin 115+!!!

thanks for the kind words and welcomes! locker is just out of my budget right now. i don't want to throw any more money at it, because i'm considering selling the truck for a newer one (really diggin' the 2010!) or possibly something diesel for a change, as my Talon and GVR4 are constantly down and out. it's too bad they haven't come out with a turbo diesel Tundra... i'd consider that as a very viable option instead of just the big 3.

as for the Talon, it made close to 500 AWHP with the GT3076r setup... the speedo ends at 145 - we've been to the end of it MULTIPLE times... and the car keeps on pullin!!!
