I grew up in Eugene, but I spent all my time in the Three Sisters area and points south, I'm really not at all familiar with anything north of Mt Jefferson, and I need some intel. I'm looking for car camping in the Cascades, on a lake, within prox 1.5 hours of Portland. Seclusion/distributed camping is good, but if we have to use a public campground we can do that too. Fam drives things like RAV4s and Highlanders, so a rough road on the way in is acceptable. Gotta have room at camp for four to five vehicles.

I know it's a tall order, but whatcha got for me?

Timothy Lake area near Mt. Hood is nice.
Mt. Hood National Forest - Gone Creek (Timothy Lake) Campground

Might be a little further than you want but Detroit Lake has several around it
Detroit Lake State Recreation Area, OR - Campground & Camping Details - ReserveAmerica - [OR]

Also some campgrounds on the Santium River on the way there.
