HID kit questions

Im going to upgrade my headlights to HID ones. Im going to buy all the stuff through DDM Tuning. Has anyone used them? I have a 97 T4R. I need the bulb type. If I get a 35 watt kit with the bulb type that says hi/lo, will that give me both high and low beams? Do I need a HID harness, error eliminator, or adaptor cables? PLEASE HELP

Yeah I have them and I like them. I have just the low beams but wish I got the hi lo kit. You don't need any of that other stuff. Just get the color you want and pick hi/lo if you want. I forget the exact bulb size and wattage though. I think the bulb size is 9003..
 
ddm is good, now i have 35w 10,000k. its H4. i first got the hi/lo, now just have low only. and wish i had got the 55w too. just need the ballasts that come with the hit and the bulbs, and only one side plugs in and is used as a signal basically.
 
You don't need any of the extra options. Hi/Lo will give you high and low beams. I would stick with a 35 watt kit. Don't go over 6.000K either.
 
Yeah I cant wait to get them. I looked back at their website worrying that I might need some extra stuff and under a section where they listed cars that had common problems that said a 95-98 might need a wiring harness. Heres to hoping it doesnt
 
I have some hi/low Morimoto 4300K 35w bulbs that were used for like 2 months and a H4 HID wiring harness I could sell you for cheap. You would then only need ballasts from DDM. Plus the Morimoto bulbs are better than the DDM's....

The 55w kit isn't gonna help your 10,000k bulbs.

Morimoto is quality stuff. That's the kit I bought for my fog project. Hope to get around to installing this weekend.
 
Interested in this. Which kit do you guys recommend? And I also need to change out my headlight housing from the stock ones? I have 2000 4Runner.
 
I have XenonDepot's Xtreme 8000K Bi-Xenons. Good quality so far coming up on 1 year and they have great customer support to back it.

I had a bad harness that caused flickering on one side whenever I went over bumps, etc. Emailed them and got a new harness.

You'll definitely want H4.
 
Can you send me a link of the kit you got? This is all new to me so I'm not sure what all exactly to get.

And do you also need to swap out the headlight assembly or do the stock ones work fine?

You can use your stock housings. For optimal output you'd want to retrofit projectors but you don't have to.
 
I have a 6k 55w hi/lo kit from DDM. The high/low is the same bulb and light output, it just has a small mechanism on the rear of the bulb fixture that moves the bulb forward when you put your hi beams on. It is the same amount of light, just a different pattern. If you are getting a hi/low kit the easist way to install the bulbs is to remove the metal shield from the bulb, then clip the shield into the housing, then insert the bulb. This will save you time and frustration.

Good point. There really isn't a brightness difference between the high and low beam.
 
I'm still baffled how you all are controlling your light pattern, especially with the 55w kits in stock housing. Aren't you blinding the crap outta people?

I really want HIDs, but am not a fan of the look of projectors on a 3rd gen, and can't justify blinding people.
