HIDS. How did you cover the hole on the dust cover?

I recently went though a touchless carwash and found minor condensation on one of my headlights. How did you cover the hole in the dust cover where the wires go through? A lot of people told me they have used electrical tape to cover
the hole? Any tips or suggestions will be truly appreciated.

Typically, HID kits already come with the seals installed on the harness. If yours did not come with the seals, then you will have to cut or disconnect the plugs from the wires so you can insert the wires in the holes of the seal and then reconnect the plugs. TRS also have the small parts you will need, pins, plugs and all.

Has anyone just used the hole the OEM harness runs through on the bottom of the lights? It looks about the same size.

The hole I drilled in my dusk cover was slightly sloppy and too large, so the grommet that came with the HID kit was a little too small:ybrick: I used electrical tape to secure it (both sides).

If you can, you should try to de-pin the wire connectors and run them through the seal one at a time, then re-clip them. This will likely involve carefully depressing a barb to remove the connector, then carefully restoring the barb's position before you re-insert. Do them one at a time so you don't screw up polarity... or take pics before so you don't accidently apply reverse voltage to your ballast, which will likely instantly destroy it.

the bulbs themselves should have a o-ring that seals to the housing, the dust cap is extra. If you have condensation the bulbs themselves aren't seating well

i'm surprised your kit didn't come with the wires already in a dust cover seal

When I did my HID retrofit I did but you probably wont be able to just doing a HID kit because normally it has 4 wires IIRC. 2 for the original connector, 2 for the new bulb.

Part 4: Housing modifications

Now with both projectors mounted to the bracket completed its time to move onto the wiring. Under the headlights you will have a wire that fed into the headlight to give the bulb power. This should have been removed before you put the headlight into the oven.

now that you remember this wire and hopefully where it came from, find your igniter wire from the morimoto kit.

Thankfully this comes with a grommet pre-installed and we don't have to worry about that. The issue we have is to use the factory hole where the original wire went through, we need to enlarge the opening for the new grommet. This is where I took my 1 1/2 hole saw and opened it up for the new grommet. Thankfully the hole has a slight bevel which is perfect for the hole saw to fit into.

and finally the complete opened hole.

At this point you need to run the wiring through the hole. You need to route the smaller connector from the inside of the housing to the outside because the D2s igniter will not fit through our new hole. Once you have the wire through push the grommet into place and make sure its fully seated.

At this point feel free to put the projector back into the housing, bulb in the projector and the igniter in place with cap if you choose.

ignore my cap it has a hole in it from a previous install. It doesn't look like it clears but it does.

Wouldn’t be hard to pull the pins and pull the wires then fill the two holes with acrylic or something. Rather do that than cut holes in the back covers.
