High mileage 250k+, swapping engine.. what else should i do?

Get a 5th gen

Motor dead or other issues?
- Timing belt, WP with all pulleys
- All new belts
- Fan clutch if the new engine does not have one already. Also a fan idler / bracket (aka false water pump)
- PCV valve
- Valve cover gaskets
- Clean the TB
- cam seals and crank seal
- Re-seal the oil pan on the new motor
- Reseal / rebuilt the power steering pump
- New o-ring on the factory oil cooler
- New vac lines
- Hopefully the new engine comes with an alternator if it is a yard pull or JDM
- Spark plugs and wires
- O2 sensors depending on the age of your current

Much easier to do all that with the motor on a stand vs in the car.

5th gens are nice, but they can take their high car payments and shove it HA! I am happy wrenching and maintaining with zero payment other than car parts (wrenching is my zen time and my angry rage time... never know which it is gonna be) :cheers::flipoff::cheers:

250k is high mileage ????? maybe for a Ford.

Whoa.... I have 320k on my f150 and outside of replacing spark plugs and general maintenance I have had zero issues not even the tiniest of leaks. Anywhere. Of course I was smart and did not get the 5.4L. My mileage dropped from 18mpg to 17.9 if you want to talk catastrophic failure.

Seriously, though... Anything that looks old and worn. Hoses, Gaskets, Mounts, etc. Spray the bay? Sky is the limit!! Send us pics.
