High Miles Concerns?

I bought a 2007 SR5 V6 2WD this week. It has 165,000 miles on it and is a one owner local 4Runner. I had to talk myself into buying one with these miles on it, but the truck runs and drives and looks great inside and out.

The left rear power lock doesn't work, so that's a bummer, and I'm not sure if the MPG display is supposed to be backlit or not, but it isn't.

I have some of the maintenance records, and it appears that a water pump has been changed recently. The hub on the fan is pink. Weird.

This is our knocking around/road trip/hauler. It will probably be driven around 5000 miles a year. I had an 86, 88, and a 99 Limited over the years, but stupidly traded them or sold them. That 99 was great, but I love this 2007 even more! (Pics are in the newcomer section)

What should I look out for? Any concerns with the miles?

Awesome link! Thanks. I've gotten under the truck with a flashlight for days now looking for any leaks or trouble. So far, so good.

Now, to keep my wife from claiming this one and giving me the Camry. ;-)

Not that that's a bad thing..the SE V6 is fast and fun.
 
No matter what vehicle you buy..anyone with that many miles the key is how well it was maintained. My 05 now has over 275k miles and runs EXCELLENT. But I keep it well maintained.
 
Agreed. I registered it with Toyota Owners the day I picked it up and ran the history. Most of the service was done at a local dealer.

Also, things like not a single scuff on the wheels, nor a rip or stain inside, and no swirl marks in the paint, indicate someone cared. That's in addition to a clean engine compartment.

I'm just OCD about cars and trucks. I bought a 2001 Tahoe, which has been great, other than some big ticket repairs soon after I bought it.
 
Thanks! Are these bulbs at the parts stores like Advance, Auto Zone or O'Reilly? I would like to fix this today!
 
If I remember correctly, they are cheap but not just every place has them. It's more of an online or Radio Shack item than am auto parts store item.

The threads list part numbers.

There is a sticky about how to search the forum. Check it out and use the search function to search keywords like 'LED' and 'dash.' You'll find it pretty quickly.

It's a very easy fix. One of my bulbs was out when I bought mine last December. Now, I see you mentioned OCD. One thing that will blow your mind when you replace the bulb is that the climate control backlight is a different shade of orange from the radio backlight. And no, I don't mean brightness; I mean color. It still bothers me a little. :ohwell:

[MENTION=124137]Niteshade[/MENTION], the left rear power door lock should be an inexpensive, easy fix. Either A) the switch is bad, B) the steel cable came out of its socket, or C) the solenoid is bad. All inexpensive, easy to diagnose and easy to fix!
 
While you're changing the bulbs you might as well do some quick modifications and throw on a custom bumper with winch, sliders, suspension lift and tires, roof rack and maybe even the tissue box that somehow fits in the arm rest.
