OTC scan tool is great product. It meets my needs very well especially when it comes down to the airbag and abs diag work.. I don't want Hijack the thread on this product and open a can worms but it's good.

OP as already stated, start with a basic tuneup as a base so you can eliminate those as issues and then work on the fine details. Plugs, wires, air filter, clean the maf and change the O2 sensor if it has been more than 120,000 miles. A scan gauge or ultragauge, while not as useful as a diagnostic tool will also give you that basic information and is a useful source of info for daily driving
