Do you recommend I pick up some cheapie aftermarket headlamp assemblies off Amazon or eBay? They're only about ~$80 for a pair and I'm thinking it might be nice to use them rather than the OEMs in case I screw something up and render my truck undriveable.

If this is your first swap, and you rely on your truck for driving on a daily basis, I'd say yes. I'll be able to give you a lot of guidance, but in the offchance that we don't complete it the first night, it wouldn't be the worst idea in the world. I'd recommend performing the swap on the OEM headlights as they're usually of higher quality than the aftermarket ones. Then, when we're finished with the swap, just resell your ebay lights on the forum or something.
