Hit in the 4Runner

Well my wife was hit by another car while she driving the 4Runner earlier today. Apparently, the other driver was in the lane next to her going at a high rate of speed, slammed on the brakes, went front end first into the side rail and ricocheted rear end first into the passenger side of the 4Runner. My wife was was a little shaken up, but thankfully uninjured. The driver in the other car fled the scene, but not before my wife got a photo as he made his getaway.

Luckily, I had just installed a set of RCI rock sliders yesterday, which took the brunt of the impact and only sustained minor cosmetic damage that’s barely visible. Nothing a little paint touch up won’t remedy.

The car that hit her, however, is going to need a bit more work... Thanks RCI!! [emoji1360]

Wow, glad she is ok, thats the most important thing, everything else can be dealt with. Amazing she was calm enough to snap a picture. After you get in control fo the emotions, have a second opinion of any damage. Might be nothing more than some touch up paint, but then again...................

Thank you! It was such a relief to know she was physically okay. When she called to tell me she had been hit my mind went to worst case scenario of her being trapped inside a mangled vehicle.

Sometimes we get so comfortable driving around, we often forget we are at the mercy of the other drivers around us.

Ive been thinking about making my own sliders cause my 3rd gen is a weekend rig and this definitely made me realize im going to have to make them sturdier for crashes

at the very least, the fast, cheap and simple step is to install a ball hitch on your trailer hitch...

that may help with those folks whom dont work with the "keep at least 1 car length distance".......

for those stuck on the installation process of a 2 channel dashcam.. the rear channel is really simple to install.

i bought a piece of aluminum flat sheet metal stock from home depot, fabricated / cut out a small rectangular piece with 2 holes

and then fastened them to the push tabs on the rear tailgate headlliner (there are 3 push tabs right by your rear window).

the aluminum stock provides surface area to adhere a "rear channel camera" ..

thre video cable and can tucked inito your headliner and trim panels, right though the rear channel area, with no panel removal required.
