hitch cargo or bike carrier concerns

I figured towing was the best place for this since it pertains to the hitch and tongue weight.

Has anyone used a hitch cargo basket or hitch mounted dirt bike carrier on their 3rd gen? How much weight have you loaded on it? And what is a safe "tongue weight", I say this because it is not technically a trailer but it is still the vertical load on the hitch itself.

Max tongue weight for a Class 3 hitch is 500 lbs. The only carrier I have seen that I would trust on the back of my Runner is the Ultimate MX-Hauler. My dad has one of the double style tube haulers, and it weighs almost 200lbs without a bike on it. He put's it on the back of a 2500 pickup with airbags on the rear, so it's really no concern. On a Runner, I would imagine some serious rear-end dropping going on with a 500lb load on the hitch.

Crank it Up!

I just picked up a rage aluminum single bike carrier. Still has a steel center. Holds my bike perfect. Very solid feel, minimal sag, and my addicted rear bumper loves it. The bumper keeps the bike almost 3' off the ground, perfect for parking in remote areas to ride.

I am a nut about my bike and I actually trust the carrier. Way easier than dealing with a trailer when I do solo track days. Total weight with rack and bike is still sub 300.
