hitch question

hitch question....please advise

I have a new to me 2004 v8 4x4....that said it only has only part of the factory hitch....i've talked to the toyota dealer and for just the bottom part they want like $200! that's crazy....looked at threads for the hidden hitch but then read something about having to mod the factory part of the hitch that's on the 4 runner.....help me please, what's the best, easiest way to go with this.....I already have a one ton truck and a suburban so this is isn't going to be a towing beast.....thanks for your time

Looks like the part on there is welded.

I say for that kind of money, go buy a complete after market hitch that bolts to the frame and cut off what's on there. You would have more towing weight capability and sturdier.

The 2003 hitch is completely different than the 2004. The other thing I already sold it. But I agree with having fun.

thank you for your responses.....does anyone know if there's an after market hitch that uses the frame rails but also bolts up to this factory hitch?

Uhaul, hilariously enough, sells very good hitches and will install them. I believe most of theirs are bolt ups.
