Holy SH*T! Cops shoot wrong man 16 times...and he's still alive!

So warrant for a different guy, wake him up and are surprised when he reached for something. If I've done nothing wrong to expect police to show up at my house, I'd be pretty damn surprised when someone kicks in my door. Turns out, not a gun he waqs reaching for, and fire at least 16 shots. I wonder how many they fired that didn't hit him!?!?

And then they called it justified...but said they would pay him $3 mil..I think it should be a million for each gunshot.

If someone woke me up in my bed, i would be reaching for something.... Honestly, Arlington TX had a rash of people committing robberies in 2006 where two or three men would dress and act as SWAT officers and tell victims they were there on police business as they robbed them.

I was an officer myself in Arlington at the time, and this got swept under the rug fast.....why you may ask, because it is incredibly effective and has been carried out thousands of times in the US.

Someone comes kicking in your door at 3am and says they are police, and you know you have done nothing to merit the intrusion..what do you do...conform and get robbed or worse, or stand your ground with the same outcome as this guy.

Exactly my point...this guys is dead asleep and is startled awake. I've been asleep and gotten calls, had conversations, and not remembered them in the morning I was so out of it. It just puzzles me how the investigators can call the actions justified.

What alternative do you have if you don't want to fall victim of a home invader....or anyone rushing into your house during odd hours?

Well, the accuracy testing for police is not all that hard....

Hell, for lifetime of pain and misery, I would have sued them for more than $20 million! Remember, this guy is ONLY 30 years old! He will forever be scarred and crippled for life.

I keep a pistol and an ar next to my bed. If someone kicks in my door then the outcome won't be pretty.

I remember reading a story a while back where some cops kicked in the door of the wrong guy. That wrong guy ended up being a special forces soldier (don't remember the location) and the soldier ended up killing like 5 officers before the cops killed him. This may seem a little odd that the soldier didn't know who he was shooting at but in the middle of the night you may not hear that it's the police and when bullets start flying, most communication ends and it's all about gunfire at that point.

Either way, hopefully that guy gets all the money he is demanding and lives happily for the rest of his life.

Asleep after returning from a 12-hour overnight shift at the ASARCO Mission mine, Guerena was awakened about 9:30 AM May 5th 2011 by his wife who heard noises outside their house, later identified as flash/bang grenades deployed by police in the back yard as a diversion.[2] He instructed his wife and 4-year-old son to hide inside a closet while he grabbed his AR-15 rifle and crouched down preparing to defend himself from the unidentified people breaking and entering into his home. The Sheriff's Department initially claimed that Guerena had fired on officers; at least three of the SWAT members including the team commander reported in their post-operation debriefings that they had observed muzzle flashes aimed at them from inside the house.[3] After an examination of the rifle Guerena allegedly pointed at the officers, however, it was determined that the rifle had not been fired - the safety was still engaged.

At this point the five person team fired at least 71 rounds at Guerena in less than seven seconds, who died after being hit 22 times.[6][7]

An ambulance and Lifeline helicopter were on standby during the raid, and Guerena's wife called 911 to request medical assistance for her husband shortly after the shooting. Paramedics, however, were instructed to hold back. Guerena was denied attention, about one hour, until team declared "area secured". Ambulance crews were then notified they were no longer needed, one hour and fourteen minutes after Guerena's wife's call to 911

He was an Iraq war veteran. He died of his injuries.

I'm really surprised that the Fan Belt Inspectors(FBI) have not got involved in this case to do a review of all of this. This will be interesting to see the outcome.

What's awful is that I hear that the warrant for the person they were looking for was already served when they decided to go down to the basement (he was renting out the basement from the guy who the warrant was for).

I know police officers have a VERY dangerous job, but I think they need to do more training on the use of deadly force as a last resort. I know it's easy to say these things not being in that situation, but there has to be a different reaction to situation compared to how joe public would react.

Unless a weapon (knife, gun) or anything of the sort is aimed at them, their guns should not be fired.

If you ask me the guy who was shot Deserves every penny he is suing for and then some. Also the officers need to be let go and arrested and should have to stand trial for murder, like everyone else would have to if the same were to happen if it wasn't someone in uniform.

Nah, hire ONE good one...such as lawyer of OJ Simpson! Too many lawyers means less in your pocket at the end of the day! This is such an easy case that any lawyer with half a brain can win.
