Home for the holidays???

Why do you do holidays? This whole “Home For The Holidays” mystifies me completely. It’s like a bad Robert Downey movie. Why not do family get-togethers during “non-peak” times, thus giving everyone plenty of time for a relaxing trip and low stress reunion? Should your family meeting be dictated by a societal tradition/demand?

Why this self-induced stress? I actually consider this madness to be well-deserved pain for the abject stupidity involved. This holiday, I’m sleeping in, then going out with friends. Then, for a little extra entertainment, we’re going to watch a few minutes of the news about you stuck in some airport pushing, shoving, yes, fighting your way through bag swinging psychos. Why? So you can squeeze into an overstuffed metal tube packed with smelly, foul mouthed, intoxicated weirdos and their whiny, out of control spawn kicking your seatback for five hours only to find you have missed your connection. Rinse, repeat. Happy Holidays! ;-) S/O

Sometimes it is the only way that the whole family can get together due to timing issues. When I was in the military, I traveled a couple of times during the holidays and although it was a busy travel time, it was one of the periods that the branch of military I was in, allowed for lots of people to go on leave. So although you may laugh at all the people traveling, sometimes it is the only time that people get to visit with family.

Safe travels everyone!
