Hood Alignment

Hey all , so a while back I purchased a Strongarm hood strut to replace one that was bad on my 2004 Sport . Yes I did only purchase the one .

This is the Item:

Amazon.com: StrongArm 6228 Hood Lift Support for Toyota 4Runner: Automotive

It did fit kind of tight but it said its made for the runners so I thought it was just how it was made to fit. After installing, I had a huge gap between my fender and hood, something was definitely wrong so I took it off and recently purchased one that was about 1 inch shorter than the one I purchased off amazon, the same length as the one that was still good. The hood still seems to have bad alignment and can see right through the crack of the hood/fender.

I'm not sure if it was flaw in the one I purchased or what, because there seems to be great reviews on the item on amazon.

Is there any way to get my hood alignment back in spec?

I have the same prob, I haven't messed with mine yet. Prob loosen the hood bolts and shift it in correct position, then tighten back up!

I would remove both of the supports, new and old one. Line them up and compare them very closely. You should be able to see the difference. I'm curious about this!

I have gotten the correct fitment now, the one off of amazon is sitting in a box somewhere. But the damage has been done pretty sure it bent my hood out of alignments and wanted to see if anyone knows of how to get it back properly lined up

Loosen the 2 bolts on each hood hinge. Try to move the hood to where and which way you think you need to. Tighten it back up and see how she lays. It'll take a few tries. Having a helper will be a big plus!! Hope this helps, kinda hard to explain without seeing exactly what your situation looks like.
