Hood Scoop Decal For My 2018 ORP

Apparently 2nd Gen 12+ Tacoma Sport and 5th Gen 14+ 4Runner Trail/Off Road uses the same size hood scoops :thumb:

No more glare for me. Works on my 2013 Tacoma and 2018 4Runner :thumb:

Sure but if you look at the link I posted, it's exactly the same as the 2nd gen Tacomas scoop.

for $50 bucks you think there would be some transfer tape on it, it makes it a lot easier to install. Heck for $50 bucks you could plasti dip it and then have money to go get yourself some beers

from here, on my screen atleast, there appears to be a clear backing? :shrug:

transfere tape goes on the outside of the sticker. It pourpose is to hold the vinyl in place as you apply it. without it The vinyl can stretch and warp.to install you tape the vinyl in place and tape it in place from front to back or side to side. then you pull half back and remove the paper backing. now the transfere tape will stop anything from moving around on you, it also holds the sticker flat.. I have applied quite a bit of graphics. not just trying to be a smart ass here.

I cut my own hood scoop decal with VViViD Black Matte Car Wrap Vinyl from Amazon for $25. I traced the scoop on paper then transferred it to the wrap and cut. I cut two just in case but I did not need it. Super easy.

The vent "intake" part comes out from the bottom of the hood with just a few clips and can then be easily painted or plastidipped. I've done that part, which does nothing for the glare, and I am now considering this vinyl piece. My 4Runner is white and the glare can be kind of intense at times. Interesting because I also have a white WRX and have never had a glare issue with the actual hood scoop on it. I think it is because the hood drops away pretty sharply from the front glass and the scoop itself just kind of continues out straight rather than the scoop rising up above the more level hood on the 4Runner.

Rookie mistake. Purchase beverages PRIOR to the install so you have something to enjoy while working.

Good find. I was looking for these the other day. I did a diy of this using matt spray paint on my land rover a while back. Definitely worth the effort. I don't want to spray my shiny new 4runner so I'm gonna do the vinyl bit.

Hood scoop wrap

I got the short option from the TacomaWorld guy. I like the end result. I also plasti-dipped the separate “intake” part and closed the gap so it looks all one piece.
