I figured I should start a build thread now since I will begin the process of building up my 4runner pretty soon. I purchased my 4runner a few months ago. It's a 2002 Sport Edition 4wd and in my favorite color, thundercloud metallic. I said I wouldn't mod it....but I caught the mod bug again. I plan on lifting it, adding 33's, bumpers and sliders at some point. This is my daily driver/ hunting/ mild off-roading vehicle. I had a '97 4runner that I did a lot of off-roading in and I do not want to destroy this one ha. So far, I have acquired parts to lift it and will be installing them soon. I plan on adding lots of pictures and documenting everything I do.

Here it is stock and pretty

Here's my '97 I used to have

Body lift

Here's some pictures from a couple weeks ago. I ordered a toytec 2" body lift and installed it. I know a lot of people don't like body lifts but I had one on my previous 4runner and had zero problems with it. I like the look of a little extra height. I also have bilstein 5100 asjustables and tundra coils waiting to be installed in the front and OME 890's for the back.

Rims

After seeing all of the 17" tundra/sequoia split rim wheels on here, I decided that I wanted some. I found some on craigslist, in rough shape, for $120. So while I've been waiting to finish my lift I've been working on the rims. I sanded them down, coated them with self-etching primer and then painted them silver. I still need to put a clear coat on them. After they're completed I plan on wrapping some 285/70r17 BFG KM2's around them.

The paint I used was VHT silver wheel paint

Lift

I finally got the suspension lift installed. I went with Bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks and Tundra coils for the front. I have them on the lowest setting so there is a bit of rake. I like the CV angles but I will probably adjust them higher, especially when I get a front bumper. I also went ahead and did the diff drop.

I went with OME 890's and and their nitrocharger shocks for the rear

How it looks now

Before and after

Next up will be tires.

Tires

Picked these up from Discount Tire. They're 285/70r17 BFG KM2's. I need to finish painting one wheel and install my 1.25" wheel spacers from All Pro. They should be on this weekend.

Wheel spacers

I had to install some 1.25" Allpro wheel spacers to clear my new wheel and tire combo.

Lift and tires complete

I finally got a chance to take some pictures after installing the new tires

SO clean! I really like those Tundra wheels. Always thought they looked better on the 3rd gens than the Tundras they came on.

That tire size and rim combo look great! Only way I'd run 17" rims is with that size tire. Anything smaller looks too unproportionate to me. Thundercloud Sport is looking good man!
