How do I remove overhead console? 2016 TE

I have a 2016 TE and I am trying to remove the complete overhead console. I have pryed loose the multi terrain crawl control portion and unplugged it. I took the 2 screws out behind the multi terrain crawl control part so the front is loose now but there is still something holding the rear of the console. Does anyone know what is holding it from the back by the map lights?

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Reach up and unplug the harness. Then pull down. There are two plastic clips in the rear.

Is there one main harness? I see multiple plugs for all my buttons.. Atrac, locker, etc. And will the console pull down with the harness still plugged up? Not sure what type of clips you mean in the rear of the console. Just don't wanna break anything. But I am willing to pull the hell out of it of that's what I need to do.

It should look like this in [MENTION=48991]sp8ball[/MENTION]'s write up. 6th picture down. The front on yours is different but the rest should be the same. One main harness that you have to disconnect in the mid-left area.

Edit: also don't pull too hard. I broke some stuff the first time I took mine apart and had to JB weld. Just finesse it off of there.

I have a new 2018 TRD ORP. New to the Forum. Not sure how to post a question yet, thought I'd start by commenting on this thread. Was swapping out the map lights for LED's. Used the tape method to pull out the bulb. First side went fine. Second side didn't light up. It wasn't the bulb, but as I tried to troubleshoot, the socket inside the console came loose and rattles around in the console. Looking at some of the pictures in this thread, could it be the socket got loosened by a twisting motion? Or did minimal manipulation seriously brake something. Will taking the console off give me access to fix it? Or try to get it looked at under warranty? Thanks for any suggestions.

Haha!!! Same ****ing problem... Bulbed cracked in my hand and using a pair of needlenose to pull out the debris I ended up ripping the socket. Need to pull it out now and will probably have to solder a new one.

You need tiny sticky fingers to get the bulb out. Turns out I got it done rather easily. The Crawl control / MTS panel comes off just by feeling with your fingertips the front edge, for two gaps. just pull down, and the panel comes off. Then you can see the 2 screws holding up the entire panel. take those out, then with the help of some plastic pry tools, pull the whole panel down. Luckily, the socket attaches to the circuit board with a quarter turn. Put your new bulb in and put everything back. I was afraid I broke the board or something. Hopefully that's all you'll need to do, and nothing is broken.

Yup.. That did it... used a toothpick to scrape out the broken glass..

You need a sawzall and a crowbar. That should do it.

just carefully pull straight down. Two plastic pins holding it up.

I did the LED interior light conversion today (not sure it was worth it). One of my bulbs popped up into the console.

Yup, bulb conversion and fixture popped up into the console. Thought I broke it so good to know... I follow linked directions to fix.

I did the exact same thing last night, and I just fixed it by reading these forums! :reddance:
