That's really harsh.

I'd just make her pay for the ticket...probably.

It sounds like she has a good head on her shoulders and is not an habitual speeder.
 
I just cruise along minding my business. If I get stopped, I'm polite, apologetic and do admit to whatever I was doing. So far it worked about 50% of the times I got pulled over. I was guilty every time.

She has been driving for just over a year, totaled out her first car. She did without one for about 6 months before we bought her another one. SHe got a ticket in October for speeding, she paid it ($120), and took defensive driving to get deferred adjudication, contingent on any more violations for 6 months. That is why she was upset at possibly getting another ticket. She goes to school full-time and works about 20-24 hours a week at a local sports bar, and she does make her car payment to me each month ($102), but I have assumed the increase in insurance. So, she does a pretty good job of contributing her part, so I tend to show a little mercy and leniency on her. Thanks for the suggestions though.
 
I'm a cop now and I still get nervous lol. As soon as I see 'em, it's like instinct to hit the breaks and look at my speedometer even if I'm doing the speed limit.
 
The police in my locale aren't cutting any slack or breaks. Sign of the times and the government is cash strapped. There are plans to turn red light cameras into speeding cameras.

Yet another reason not to live in California.

I honestly can not see many benefits to living there, no offense to the members that do.

Yeah it seems like there are more of them now in my area too. They are getting more strict too, setting up more DUI checkpoints, checking for seat belts, and stopping speeders. It is a good change though, you wouldn't believe how many reckless idiots are on our roads.

I agree that 43 was not too bad, but we live in this snobby uppity bedroom community that the locals target to get as much $$$ as they can for the city budget. They will give you about a 5 mph cushion and that is it, ...., I know since they have pulled me over several times.

If they do that, cops will be the first ones to get those tickets, don't ask me how I know....
 
I just act normal and keep driving at the speed limit ...sometimes a little over . If is in a school area I really keep it under the limit.

I got a story similar to Manhunters daughter. One day about three years ago a was in a hurry to get home ( I think I was coming back from the Gym).... the school was right across the street from my house. I was a block from home and there comes the cop. Routine questions and grabed my license. Came back asking me I guess because I was clean... if I wanted the ticket for speeding at 42 in a school area(thats why I got stopped for)or he could give me a seatbelt ticket. I looked at him and told him: what about a verbal warning??. Then he asked me Why should I get rid of this ticket?...give me a good reason and I would ripoff this peace of paper. Of course I was smiling all the time. LOL...brain think for a few seconds and told him...OK This is whats going on. I am aplying for a Police Officer position and already turned in my app if you give me a ticket that may mess me up. Then he asked me which department and I told him the IPS Police(which is the Indianapolis public schools) then he said: They suck!...LOL...and I said ok whomever call me first. Then he tought for a few second ..grabed the ticket and riped it off. Told me to slow down in school areas and good luck with my application. Lol....:bravo:

So, ...., whatever happened with the application? Change your mind? Guess that could be a good way to get out of a ticket though.

I had the app for a while filled out and everything but never turn it in.....matter of fact that was more than 3 years about 4 1/2 ago.

I live in a similar community and lets say when you drive 40 in a 25 thats pretty normal, its not just kids that speed like that, most of the parents are going just as fast. But the cops in my town specifically target students, 1 morning on my 4 mile drive to school which is mostly shortcuts i saw 3 cops hiding, they hid on the shortcuts, not the roads that commuters use.

I once had a cop behind me at the traffic lights and it was night time. He had only one headlight working. I leaned out the window and waved to him to pull up next to me which he did. I told him that I just wanted to let him know about the blown light in case he didn't realize. He laughed, thanked me and said he'll get it fixed right away.
Then a few years ago the exact opposite happened. This time the cop was in a bad mood I think because he wanted to ticket me for the blown headlight. Luck was on my side because at that time I was new to the States and only had my australian drivers licence, so he had no idea on how to deal with that and he let me go with a 'warning'.

There's a CSP (Colorado State Patrol) who lives one block away from me. I'mma befriend him and ask him if i can take his patrol car out for a spin. Wish me luck! hehehe....
 
I have been on multiple ride alongs for my law enforcement class....cops think it's hilarious to see peoples demeanor change when they pull up next to them. I find it funny too. Just be normal haha.
