My 4Runner is a daily that gets a little off road time, but really no overlanding and certainly far from a dedicated off roader

I really like the upper storage shelf, but it seems that can’t be added without also adding the side window panels as well. For daily driving, it seems those would crate quite the blind spots. Plus, the dogs don’t have a side window now.

Anyone regret using these panels on a daily driver?

Does anyone offer that upper shelf that works by itself without the side window panels?

I'm with you, I don't keep stuff out in the open in my truck so the window panels are out. I'd love a roof panel that worked independently of the window set to keep things tucked away neatly.

I don't think the panels touch the windows at all. If anything, they protect the windows.

I meant that my gear would be stolen. In CO where I am there have been plenty of reports of broken windows and stolen gear, not to mention stolen 4runners.

i agree, the whole window panel storage is awesome, but not worth the risk of someone breaking out the window for something they perceive as valuable. People are so bold these days and will smash a window out if they see change in your cup holder. Top shelf without the sides...I would be down for that.

A couple months ago, here in a neighborhood with million dollar houses, theives gained access to a condo parking garage and smashed the windows of over 70 cars in one night.

You should check out the nets and attics from Blue Ridge Overland or Rangler nets. They kind of add a shelf without the weight and problems these window molle panels and cargo shelfs add.

The only stand alone cargo shelf I know of is from Kaon australia but it's made for the Prado 150. So my guess is that it'll work for GX460's and perhaps 3 row 4Runners.

Yeah and in many cities I've heard any theft under $750 won't be prosecuted. What a wonderful country we have now. So if you live in a liberal shithole there is no way I would expose valuables.
