How Fast is your PC / MAC ? (Post your CineBench 11.5 results)

I was just curious how fast everyone's machines are.

Is yours faster than mine? I built this one in September 2009. :beer:

CineBench 11.5 is a FREE program for PC and MAC. It is very small and includes a CPU and OpenGL test.

Ahh i miss building pc's. Im actually just getting back into it now. Ordered myself two of those bargain specials Acer 22" LED monitors with the dual stand from tigerdirect last night.

Im currently drawing up a computer build that will sit in the draw of my computer desk and will actuate open on a homemade worm gear using a old electric drill motor. On the flip of a switch i will be able to install ram/ cards / etc.

I will post pics if anyone is interested.

Good observation Brian, give me a minute ill get a benchmark lol. I think the results will be miles behind your i7... I should have got one of those processors when i worked at Intel..To bad the ****ers laid a ton of us off right before i was eligible.

Well the Xeon W5590 seems to be at the top so I assumed all Xeons were super fast :moping:

I dont really run them for speed honestly. More for reliability. The newer xeons are based off of the same architecture as the i7.

My xeons are specd to run at very low temperatures with low voltages and 24/7 use. I have had this specific machine on since sometime in the beginning of December last year when i had to move. Previous to that it was not uncommon for this machine to be left on for 4-5 months at a time with no issues whatsoever.

You don't need a 3-4 GHZ i7 these days unless you are a power user. :boxer:

I'll put a test up later, once my Verizon Wireless resets (I only get 5 gig allowance per month, and I'm getting close--I know, pretty weak--LOL). That Cinebench takes some space, and I may need that yet. My rig is one of Dell's gaming beasts, although a few years old, with an i7-965 Extreme using liquid cooling, and the default is 3.2 ghz with factory overclocking of 3.77 (on all cores, 4 actual and 4 virtual). I'm curious to see how it does on your test program--when the mag's tested it new (around 11/08), it was the fastest commercially-assembled system available. This could be fun!

EDIT: That speed of 3.77 Ghz is incorrect--it is actually 3.73 (human memory isn't as accurate as machines--LOL). In an old test, using a slower graphics card than mine, it's Cinebench R10 for 3D Rendering scores were 21334 (multi-thread) and 4772 (single-thread), compared to their i7-920 comparo system's 13206 and 3248, respectively. In all honesty, I have no idea what that means, except that they said higher was better. Anyway, I'll try to get this new one soon-you've got me curious!

Man the i7-965 Extreme is probably pretty fast. The CPU alone costs ~ $800

Must be. My computer is slow as ****. Your computer must be faster by more then that.

I don't know if it is biased but your mid 2009 MBP is running an Intel 2.53 GHz core2duo.

In a vs test against an i7 @ 3.6 GHz the OC'd i7 is going to smoke it. I had a 2010 MBP 2.66 core2duo and while it was fast, my PC was almost 4x faster.

The i7 has 4 true cores and 4 addition cores via hyperthreading. The speed jump from core2duo to i7 was huge. Even when the new MBPs come out, I doubt they will even match the OC'd i7 920.

I actually to buy the new 15" MBP which will probably be an i5 / i7.

Yeah, the original price was around $5000, but I let someone else pay that--I got it two years ago off eBay for $1200! I had never had a really serious computer, and since I dabble with graphics-heavy games occasionally, I needed the horsepower to do it smoothly. I'm not about to pay multiple thousands for a computer, not without a more serious reason than games (LOL)!

Brian barely beat me on processor (I have the lowest speed 2nd gen i7 ;(
But I am highest so far on FPS. YAY ME!! (dual 2gb cards in X-fire helps a little lol)

Okay, I decided what-the-heck, and downloaded the program (I'll have to use my laptop for the rest of the week for internet--oh well!). I got a 6.29 on the CPU, but my ancient 4870x2 video card could only produce 23.69 fps on the OpenGL test. This is how little I know on some computer stuff--how the heck do I get one of those screen captures? I tried right-clicking on the screen, and nothing happened (I was going to "Save As", but apparently that won't work). Any help for a computer bonehead??
