How is your painted front valance holding up?

I'm going to start working on the front end of my 4Runner and first up, is getting rid of the silver valance. I've read on other threads that a number of you painted them with Line-X, SEM trim paint, Rustoleum bed liner, etc.

My tentative plan, based on what I've read here, is to:

1 - Lightly sand with 800 grit sandpaper
2 - Prime with SEM Flexible Primer Surfacer
3 - Apply numerous coats of SEM Trim Black paint

I'd like to hear from those of you who've taken a similar approach - how's it holding up over time? Anything you'd do differently if you were to do it again?

I'm over 1 year in on mine and headed into the second Rust belt winter. I did pretty much the exact same process (scuff, prime, multiple light coats of Rustoleum enamel). I took the valances completely off the bumpers to make sure I got good side coverage and gave them an extended curing time, about two weeks, just hanging in my garage before re-attaching.

Zero complaints so far, but I do expect to have to touch them up at some point. We will see how this second winter treats them.
