How many Maxtrax / Treds / Recovery boards - 2? or 4+?

I have a single set of Maxtrax and I also have a winch. I think that's quite a bit to get me out of trouble, but what about when you go looking for it? Does anyone recommend 4+ Maxtrax or recovery boards? Or will 2 be just fine? Reason I ask is because this will be my first season "wheeling in the snow". Driving in snow is not new to me, but driving in snow on 4x4 trails with off-camber situations is. Is their stack-ability and bridging ability worth getting the 2nd pair? Anyone ever been on the trail with 1 set and wished they had another? (Hey-oh)

Looking for real world experience/advice. My gut says 1 pair should be fine, but I like to be prepared.

From what I understand a single set will get you out of many places easily. I haven't gotten a chance to use my set of Maxtraxx yet (I got them mainly for snow extraction as I have gotten stuck in snow before more than mud) but everyone who has used them or their competitor says 2 is plenty for the most part; but if you have the money 4 would be a smidge better.

The Maxtraxx and other brands aren't really for regular bridging use, a lot of the videos I watched did show that they could be used for small bridging small gaps when stacked two together; but many of the videos mentioned that they all flexed quite a bit (I think the non-Maxtraxx units they used even cracked a bit in one video) and that they would use them more as a last ditch option than first choice.

My advice, which I do not follow myself regarding 4runner accessories, is not to buy something until you need it.

So try and live with just one pair. Should you ever determine a need for another pair, then get it.

I have two, I have used two, do I need 4? No. Do I want another pair? yes. But realistically 2 will do you just fine.

We're a pretty small business that's importing from Australia, so we'd have to get a good chunk of MAXTRAX sold to justify the discount, but let's do it!

Really thought these things were for overlanding poser wheeling, like so many gadgets. but in the Sierras last summer we had a few and they many times saved time with stucks by not having to winch. They dont always work, but they can speed up a difficult trail section. Could not imagine needing more then 2, maybe in Alaska or something. Got to buy the good stuff I hear, matraxx or bust.
