How many miles on your 4runner?

Hi, this is my first post. I bought a '97 4runner for my wife about 5 years ago (she kept seeing them on the road and asking, "What's that? I want one of those."-- I guess I'm just lucky!)

Anyway, it had 50,000 miles on it when I bought it and now it has over 176,000 miles. Haven't done a thing to it except preventive maintenance and oil changes. Oh, and a brake job.

Question is: how many miles on your 4runner? How many miles should I expect to get?

1997 basic 143,000.

I have a 1998 SR5 with a manual transmission. I've had it just over 28 years. I bought it in December 1997 while it was in transit from Japan. It's right at 400,000 miles. It has too much rust from too much winter use in the Mid Atlantic and mainly New England and a few bumps and bruises. I have a diesel Sierra 3500, a BMW car, a Harley and a Triumph that are my primary vehicles now. I don't want to lose this 4Runner so I try to avoid driving it in the rain or snow now because I don't want it to rust out.

What were you trying to do that river/creek? I guess you need good door seals for that

Close to 300k on the 4Runner, but less than 10k on the rebuilt engine. 2000, original owner!

Well, finally blew the original composite head gasket at 379,999 miles. Gonna rebuild it since I have very little rust on the frame. Disappointed it didn’t make 380K. C’mon Toyota!

364,000 on my 2003 Limited V6. I take it to the mechanic twice a year and budget CAD $3000 a year on maintenance, as it's at the age where things just need to be replaced
