How much brake pedal free play is normal?

Ok, so between the nosedive and my 2" of free play in the brake pedal, my truck is currently driving me a little nutty. I'm not speaking of the "squishy" sound or spongy feeling posted and found in my searches here.

The nosedive is well known and will soon be remedied, but are the rest of you guys experiencing about 2" of free play in the brake pedal before feeling pressure/pad contact???

Just need some input before I haul it back to my dealer and have them tell me it's "normal".... truck has a tad over 800 miles so far.

Yeah. Brakes have kind of a crappy feel- long travel soft feel.

BUT they work very well and last a looooong time between pad changes.

I put in ss braided hoses front and rear and it firmed up brake feel nicely, if it bothers you that much it may be something to consider. It also eliminated that spacey shooooweeeeshy noise, but I couldn't tell you why.

Interesting... hadn't thought of that in my '12. May have to try it in the new one. That sound does drive me batty sometimes.

I like the brakes even though they have a little play, but during certain situations, like rock crawling, steep inclines/declines, the play tightens up and you have precise control moving and braking. I thought the T4R would need a big brake kit, but i'm happy with the stock for now.
