How much forward lighting is enough?

Hid in headlights
Squadron pro in fogs
Some cheap ditch lights aimed in corners for tight turns

I have not been wheeling since installing but the squadron pro easily shoot out 200 feet and are so bright.

I already have wiring ready for a 30 inch bar behind the grill but how much light is enough? Seems like it won’t really be beneficial

personal preference. i have no idea why street vehicles need so many lights. go to the woods or wherever you wheel and test out what you have to see if it's enough.

i have one 18" light bar and 2 fogs that point off to the sides a bit and regular holegen headlights, it's plenty of lighting for my needs off-road and those few dark roads i travel down.

on my truck i have a 22" light bar and that is plenty for that truck. once i added LED headlights, i almost don't even need the light bar anymore.

That’s kind of how i feel. I wouldn’t mind some work lights though so I can setup camp.

you said front lights, but i also added flush mounted floods in my rear bumper on a separate switch, that provide a lot of light for camp or backing.

Yep I said front. I know the rear and sides need lights

Debating if I want to spend money on a light bar or spend on the sides or rear

I find a half decent 30" bar in the grill to be pretty good for most my off-road driving.

I've found that less is more sometimes... It's generally pretty dang dark out there, and too much bright forward facing light and your eyes don't adjust well to anything else except for what is outside the front windshield.

Maybe its just me, but the rest of the situation (side, rear, ditch) becomes even "darker" or not bright enough with too much light up front.

I have a 42" on the roof rack and to be honest I don't use it much at all... hood and glass glare is the pits. Low mounted light had become a welcome experience for me. Better terrain contrast too.

I can not agree more. I think some light is better than too much as your eyes will have a hard time adjusting when turning left and right
