How much is too much to replace waterpump and radiator?

Long story short, truck started leaking coolant and I suspected the waterpump. Had the timing belt and waterpump done a year and a half ago. Took it to a new shop and they said its the water pump and the radaitor leaking. I was qouted $876 for parts and labor and wanted to see what you guys think. What bothers me is that I agreed today and they said they should have it done by the end of the day but never heard back. I expressed my concerns about dropping it off before the weekend and they told me it would be parked inside and that ended up not being the case. Not only is it outside but not even in their gated area which rubs me wrong. And I assume that they havent started it if its not in the bay so thinking of going there first thing and picking it up and taking it elsewhere. If someone tells me they wont leave it outside then I expect them to keep their word so any feedback would be great. Its a 2008 V8 btw...

Does not seem too outrageous. Assumming they are charging close to msrp for parts, thats around $300-350. Then water pump is the same as basically doing a conplete T belt job as it all has to come off. Sounds like the normal shop rate. Make sure they sure a OEM or Asin water pump.

Use OEM parts. When did you do the TB last? Might as well do it while you're in there....

As mentioned, it's a full timing belt job to get to so that price doesn't sound outrageous. I would see of there's a warranty on your old water pump. 1.5 years is too short. I had a no name brand that came with a gates kit fail at less than 1 year. Go OEM only. Pump with gaskets and coolant cost ~$150 from a dealer here in southern Indiana.

The shop that did the timing belt before is like 50 miles across town and their warranty would only cover the part. Considering its a pain in the ass to get the truck there I decided to take it to a local shop that I have read good things about. I would do the timing belt as well but I only have 13000 miles on it and now I work from home so I dont put on the miles that I did before. This shop has a lifetime warranty as well on parts and labor so that was plus.

Always a good idea to price parts before like the whole asin kit on amazon & a radiator ! Labor is the big cost BUT if they said park inside & didn't , me I'd be all over them wtf !!!! My guy will park me inside under the lift to make sure 4r is inside , that to me is only problem here ! IMO of course

So I am not nuts to be irritated..LOL!! You know what they called at lunchtime and it was done. I elected to not say anything and just payed the bill. Its a nice community but just don't tell me that your going to do the right thing and end up not doing it. They have a lifetime warranty including labor so I will be sure to hold them to it...

If it was me, and my son wasn't a mechanic I'd buy the parts off rock for two and a quarter get some toyota antifreeze and find an friend, indy shop or junior college/trad school to do it. That's not all that difficult of a job tho. But I'm cheap like that.
