It's cheap too so good for frequent oil changes.

Oil is changed whenever it's convenient after the service light comes on, so 5k + a few more miles. Currently running Valvoline Maxlife syn blend (cause high mileage marketing gives me the feels) + OEM filter since I rolled over 150k on the odometer.

Fill up with reg 87. Gotta use that Costco membership for something.

is that service light at 5k? i thought it was more like 3k so they can get cars at the dealership. also - i can relate on the costco gas - i have been a BJs wholesale member for years. $25 join fees - 5 mins from my house - and almost .30 savings per gallon! free air too

I change my oil annually with Pennzoil Ultra Platinum and OEM filter, mainly because I only put 2,500~ on my 4Runner in the past year and a half. Only fill it with Shell 91 and throw in a bottle of Techron every 6 months. It's only used for camping, hauling and going out into the desert.

I believe the service light blinks at 4500 miles after it was reset, then it stays permanently lit at and after 5k miles

good to know - and i know theres a way to disable it which is cool. i wont mind this though because i do 5k oil changes. just got my truck a week or two ago.

I felt 5k was too soon. I run mobil1 synthetic, and bumped it to 10k intervals. I do swap the filter and top it off at 5k though.

I'm clearly in the minority here as I prefer to run dino oil changed at a 6k interval in all my high mileage vehicles.

2007 V6 2wd just rolled over 200k last weekend and will be ready for the next oil change in a week or so. Always 87 octane.

I use the 5k maintenance light as a reminder to do my tire rotation. and since I do 10k miles per oil change I do my oil change every other time it comes on. Still a useful light.

I've settled on 7500 miles or 9 months, whichever comes first, using Mobile 1 high mileage and the oem filter. Gas is always Chevron Supreme 91. My 2004 v8 is at 103k miles.
