How To Make 4Runner Rims Shine Also How to Bring Back Luster To Runningboards

Hello fellow 4Runner fanatics, I was just wondering what to use to bring back the shine to my stock 98 Limited 4Runner alloys, and also what to use to dress my running boards with to give them a deep rich luster? I always get my tires looking great with a blinding shine but my wheels look left behind? http://www.toyota-4runner.org/images/icons/icon9.gif

On any plastic trim I like to use Stoner's Trim Shine but be careful using anything to shine running boards since some products can make them slippery.

Stoner's is a good product - however, I find you need to apply a heavy coat to get it looking "almost" new. I would go with Mothers "Back-to-Black" However - I have to agree with RonMAIDEN's note on slippery running boards.

To clean up the rims - depending on how bad they are - EAGLE 1 rim and Tire cleaner works great to get the break dust off. However, if there are any corrosion marks, slight curb rash, or peeling clear coats - you may want to polish them up by hand to make them looking brand spanking new.

I did this to a set of VW rims

you can try some rubbing compund followed by metal polish to get them clean.
