How to remove roof rack rails plastic ends??

Hi All

Please I need some quick help!!

How do I remove the plastic caps at each end of the factory roof rails? I've taken off all the rail bolts but the clips seem to be clipped into the roof and I don't want to break them.

Do they pull straight up or move to front or back??

They slide out the ends. Be careful though!

I broke one of mine and just siliconed it back on, so it's not a huge deal if you break one or anything

I happen to take my entire rack off last week and sanded and painted it. There is. a bolt that goes in the end cap and then through the rail and then into the roof. Once that is out you have to Kinda pull up and out at the same time, be gentel but you need to pull and out at the same time. It was a little tricky at first but I got the hang of it quick. And when putting them back in if you are going to re install it I believe the small end (outside) will go a bit more first then the higher side (inside). Hope this helps you out. Also another tip would be to use a little bit of caulking on the bolts if you reinstall.

This. Make sure you caulk well any bolt holes and that square hole under the plastic end cap when re-installing or you will get a leak.

Thanks all - on mine they seemed to just pop straight off upwards complete with the metal rails still attached.
